Saw one I forgot. I was watching 1776 last night (good 4th of July movie) and when the song "Hey Momma" was sung I got a little teary eyed. If you haven't heard it, it is a song about a young man that was badly injured on the battlefield and he's hoping that his mother will be able to come and find him before he dies.

Sling Blade was a sad movie and yes i shed a tier or 2 watching it

As a little kid I remember when White Fang came out my mother took me to see it in the theatres. When he threw the stick at the wolf yelling at him to leave I cried. Only movie I ever cried at. Always struck me as odd.

I don't normally cry at movies, although I can shed a tear sometimes (like the end of Gladiator, or the Green Mile, and always at the end of Saving Private Ryan when old Ryan thinks about what all the guys had done for him and aks his wife "Am I a good person?").

But there was only 1 movie that got me totally off guard, and I literally cried my heart out there. That brilliant movie was called:

Big Fish

The scene in the end, where the cancer-ridden father is lying in his deathbed, and asks his son "How does it happen?" (meaning how does he die). And his son, who always disliked the stories his father told him, that were so full of fantasy and magic, goes on to tell him his own death.

The 2 storm off the hospital, and the son can suddenly bear his father in his arms, and he takes him to the river, where he always was fishing and looking for that big fish. And EVERYONE, EVERYONE that his father was fond of was there, and they were all saying goodbye and farewell to him - and the father smiles and gets back in the water...

Oh my god, I was never ever crying that much about a movie - that whole scene and intention was just so damn heartbreaking, I mean what more good can you do to a person than make his death the very fondest moment of his life?

The Godfather 2 i believe when the Don dies so sad to see such a powerful man go down in front of his grand child

The first time I saw Dumbo.......when he went to go see his mother in the cage, that damn song playing in the back (Baby of Mine Don't You Cry). That was the only one for me. I did come close to tears while watching Braveheart.

1) Franco Zefferelli's Romeo and Juliet (1968)

Cry like a little girl EVERY time I watch it, and I'm a grown man.

2) Passion of the Christ

Wow, that film messed with my head for over a month. Especially the "scourging" scene. By the end I was like thank God He was put out of his misery. Just too much that flick was.

3) LoTR: Return of the King

Just some welling of the eyes 'cause I appreciated the books so much when I was younger.

"My friends, you bow to noone". *sniff sniff

4) The Other Side of the Mountain

Let's just not go there, ok?

1) The Wizard of Oz: When Dorothy's looking into the crystal ball at Auntie Em and then it turns into the visage of the witch...gets me every time.

2) Immortal Beloved: While it took great liberty with Beethoven's life, it was such an epic tale of misguided love...*sighs*

3) Passion of the Christ: I'm there with you, Smitty.

4) Schindler's List: Horrifying and beautiful all at the same time. Gets you both ways.

5) The Shawshank Redemption: When Andy gets out of prison and his buddy finds the box he left for him. The scene where he sees Andy on a boat on the Gulf of Mexico is breathtaking. It sums up the entire movie in one 30 second scene.

Schindler's List is just too damn good a movie to cry. I just couldn't get over my awe of Liam Neeson's performance to shed any tears.

I mean, Tom Hanks was great in Philadelphia, but there was really no comparison. Neeson's Schindler might just be the best acting performance in the history of cinema.

Well, I hate to say it... but I've never really cried watching a movie, although I do get a bit dry eyed. The closest though was probably after Forest Gump. Man, THAT was a good movie.

Really though, I'm usually just staring at the screen with my eyes real wide, trying to soak up all the plot, so I suppose I think too much to cry? I do get a bit more "emotional" reading books, though. I came pretty close to shedding a tear after I finished "1984".
